TempExperts is hiring a Controller to join an established company. This is a direct hire opportunity.

This position is responsible for working in concert with the Chief Financial Officer and Accounting Department personnel to establish proper financial reporting policies, goals, objectives, and procedures to report accurate and timely financial results of the Company.

This position will also work in concert with the CFO, Presidents, GMs, and Parts & Service Managers to establish reporting processes and procedures for administrative operations across the Company to develop reliable tools to review and measure financial performance by branch and department.

The Corporate Controller will be fully responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are established, reviewed, and followed while reporting monthly financial reports of the Company.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (Other duties may be assigned)
  • Determine accounting policy & procedures for multiple divisions of Company along with ensure procedures are standardized and followed throughout organization.
  • Establish, review, and maintain monthly closing process for all books and records of the company.
  • Monitor, review and establish process to ensure GL account reconciliations are up to date.
  • Establish internal audit procedures for accounting department to measure and maintain ongoing assessment of accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Assist in establishing safeguards for all company assets.
  • Maintain Federal, state and sales tax compliance and audits, including the preparation and review of all required tax and compliance reports.
  • Directs the preparation, integrity, and interpretation of financial statements.
  • Directs accounting department collaboration with external auditors, including financial statement audit, IRS and state compliance audits, sales tax audits and bank compliance audits.
  • Provides support for the following sub-activities: Cash management, Accounts payable, Fixed asset accounting, Employee benefit compliance and payments, Payroll and tax compliance, and Account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Reports financial information to management.
  • Provides accurate and timely financial data.
  • Provides the information necessary in a timely manner to support ongoing business decisions and ensure that the information accurately reflects the status of the business.
  • Serves as chief audit liaison – financial, tax, and contract compliance.
  • Reviews daily cash management reports and authorizes cash transfer or loan requests, as needed.
  • Assist GMs and management on any accounting related matters.
  • Originates, supervising and reviewing the work delegated to accounting staff.
  • Maintains company accounting record storage.
  • Month-end and year-end processing of company system.
  • Manage the accounts payable department to ensure continuity of cash flow management.
  • Create cost reports for management as needed.
  • Provide the management team with monthly data with an appropriate write-up explaining any variations to the yearly budget and operating plan.
  • Performs operational audits of the other departments within the company to ensure operational efficiencies are maintained as planned and budgeted and to ensure compliance with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports as required by regulatory agencies, including but not limited to monthly borrowing base certificates for banking relationships.
  • Advises the CFO concerning company objectives, policies and plans whenever accounting activities are involved.
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • CPA and/or experience in a public accounting firm is a plus.
  • Experience with developing proper internal controls and processes within an organization.
  • A college degree is required, along with 8+ years’ experience of progressively more responsible experience in the accounting area.
  • Must have broad financial experience with a deep understanding of all related functional areas including accounting, tax, treasury, strategic planning, mergers, acquisitions, and financial systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong leadership, managerial, organizational and communication skills.
Education, Skill, and/or Experience Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 8+ years in accounting areas of concentration
  • Ability to understand opposing points of view on complex issues and to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules of others on a long-term basis.
  • Ability to oversee large projects including ERP/I/T, Process evaluation and redesign and capital projects across multiple locations and geographies.
  • The ability to interact and communicate effectively with Senior Management as well as entry level personnel is required.
  • Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret complex statistical data and/or to develop forecasts and financial models. High level Excel skills.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to one hundred pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision.
